Value of Copper in the Ground

Posted by nexvucapital on January 25, 2013

We have attached an interesting chart which demonstrates the current disconnect between the value of copper in the ground (Copper In Situ) and the price of copper in the market (our friends at Canaccord Genuity produce these charts for all metals). Since the 2011 peak in both the copper price and the value of copper In Situ there has been a complete disconnect. These anomalies in the market do not last  and we suspect that continuing stability in the copper price will eventually bring the copper In Situ value back toward a more normal relationship.
